golden lab/collie mix size

Question

We want to adopt a golden lab/collie mix but need to know how big it will be getting as far as a weight goes

Answer

It is very difficult to guess how big a lab collie mix will get.

Border collies are a medium sized breed, and labradors tend to be on the bigger side.

The mix of these two breeds normally produces a medium sized dog, but some can be fairly large.

I am sorry I cannot be more precise but this is an impossible one to guess.

If anyone owns a lab collie mix, we would love to hear how big your dog has grown....

Our Sami aka "Sam-a-lam-a-ding-dong" is a 2yr old who is 85lbs and is a huge love-bug!!!!!She just had her yearly visit and is in excellent health!! I think she could stand to loose 10lbs of winter weight and walking & long summer hikes always does the trick!! She barks at people walking up to the house but walk up to her an she will lick you to death!! She is a rescue and we love her to pieces!!!!!!!!Everyone warned us about Border Collies when we rescued her but we didnt listen THANK GOD!!!!! This mix breed is the BEST!!!! I would rescue all of them if I had the space for them!!!!

This site should let us post pics of our "fanimals"!!
Thats what we call our dogs cause they are animals and family!!!

Golden Retriever/Collie Mix
by: Mary

Our "Gollie" named Lady passed away a bit over 3 years ago and we miss her every day. Every member of the family admits she was the best dog we ever had.
Lady was on the petite size, about 22" at the shoulders and weighing in the mid 60s. She never had a health problem, and we never knew she was feeling ill until about 30 minutes before she passed away peacefully.

New rescue puppy

We just got our Doodle (black Lab/ Collie/ possible Poodle mix according to the vet.)male pup from the shelter. He was very ill with Giardia and an UTI. He was great then with awesome personality but now that is all better he is spectacular. He barks at strangers but when they get up close and he can get to know them Doodle will lick them to death.
He is 11- 12 wks old mostly black and huge paws. I am going to estimate he will get to 70 lbs or possibly more. He is a joy and is eager to please. We have been blessed with this addition to our home.
