Lab at home
by beck
Question
We are thinking of buying a labrador retriever as we have six year old boy.
Would dog be ok if we were to leave it during the day for four to five hours as I work part-time.
During the week would take the lab out in the mornings, then when I come home and then again at nights, weekends we are all home.
Answer
Most dog owners need to leave their pets alone for part of the day whilst they are out at work. This is normal, we had to do this for many years when we first got Tasha.
Labrador retrievers love to go swimming, running and pretty much doing anything that involves the fresh air and a bit of exercise.
If you live in a small apartment make sure you give your Labrador at least two good walks every day. Labs tend to get depressed without regular outdoor adventure so make sure you're ready for all types of weather! If you have a garden this will be even better for your lab as they can hang out outdoors as much as they want :)
