About Breeding Labrador Retrievers

About Breeding Labrador Retrievers

Breeding Labrador Retrievers is a lucrative business that should only be pursued by those willing to make sacrifices.

Breeding any breed of dog can be a very fulfilling experience. Many breeders will tell you that their lives are much fuller because of it. Top breeders understand that although it is rewarding the whole process is very time consuming.

To be a successful labrador retriever breeder you must be dedicated.

It does not just take a registered or pedigree labrador to be one. You need to have the right skills, the right personality and the right motives.

To be a breeder you also need to have the financial backing to do so. It is not a cheap business, or is it set to provide great profits. If this is your impression of breeding then you are wrong.

Do you still think you can be a Breeder?

Being a labrador retriever breeder means that you first have to make sure that your dog is right for breeding. Basically, you have to check your dogs health, making sure it is not prone to illnesses and also, the most important part, checking that it has no genetic defects.

Breeding a labrador that has genetic defects is cruel.

A good labrador retriever breeder would not breed a dog with genetic defects, this is just wrong. You should never breed just for the sake of it. It is considered malpractice.

When breeding labradors you should have a strong, healthy and genetically sound specimen.

As puppies labrador retrievers need alot of care. They are very fragile at such a young age and need plenty of tending. This heightens your responsibility as a breeder to ensure that you have the time and patience to be a good breeder.

After having read about Breeders I am sure that you understand what a good breeder needs. You must have the best intentions of your dogs at heart. Breeding labrador retrievers for solely profit is wrong.
