Bathing Labrador retrievers

by Ryan

I am in a routine of bathing our chocolate labrador every week.

A friend told me this is NOT a good idea, they said it would take the oil out of their coat and cause them to smell when the dog is older...is this true??

Bathing your lab
by: Anonymous

Hi there, I was advised by a professional Labrador retriever breeder not to bathe my lab too often.
I'd say that bathing him once a month is enough. If he gets dirty sooner because he has been plaing in the mud as I know mine likes to do, maybe just give a rinse rather than do the whole shampooing thing :)
Make sure you brush his coat regularly to remove dirt and loose hairs, they enjoy these brushes anyway.
Bathing your labrador retriever to often will strip him of the undercoat oils.
I hope this helps :)
