OUR LABRADOR DOG , OUR HEART PASSED AWAY

OUR LABRADOR DOG , OUR HEART PASSED AWAY

by preeti das
(new delhi, INDIA)

Most people treat & see an animal as an animal but for us he was a Human being. I think loving and understanding animals is more than even loving a human being !

He just turned 15 in Jan 2009, his Birthday always had a little celebration treating him to goodies & cake.He would be clicked etc. He was very expressive & communicated whatever he wanted so very well thru his eyes. This personal loss is is not reparable.

I think he had anal cancer since last year coz 6 months back we had got anal tumour removed which again re occurred and that portion always bled a little.

What pained us and still pains is that I guess he was suffering and bearing inside and just went away and of which we did not have much clue.

We took him to different DOC’s but he was just injected with no concrete gain.We feel guilty somewhere that maybe we should have pursued further on his treatment coz otherwise he was healthy & robust with grand shining skin.He loved to be photographed.

Last 3 days he stopped eating, barking, didn’t wag his tail , play etc things which were a religious routine of his life and of which we were used to.

These days he suffered immense, he passed away on 12 Mar 2009 at 8.45 Am ,vomited blood at intervals all thru the night. We cremated him just the way a human is ,at Pet Cremation grounds in Noida, and we planted a Mango tree in his memory.

He was a soft ,harmless, selfless companion who taught us to be more compassionate & giving all the time . We are too emotional about this, a first death in the family, I know with time it would heal !.

His Favourite song was “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman, every time we would play this song wherever he would be, he would go and sit in front of the Music system.

In his memory we have made a Video of his at different times of his life which has this Song playing by the side. It is very touching and Animals being speechless one feels even more sympathetic to them.

He was Old but some Dogs are able to mark up to even 17/18 , how we wished we could have had a year or two of extension to his life.May be we could not take him much before time to DOC.

Some touching & sensitive moments with him – The Day I was getting married and going, for a long time he just kept looking into my eyes even without blinking as though he was saying that I would miss U a lot.

Even on the last hour of his breath he was grabbing my Brother Prashant by his arms as though he was saying that I want to live more with U all, I do not want to go away.

I have never ever seen any of us , our Family members cry and even cry this way , everybody wept profusely. So far we are not peaceful.

He was integral part of our life, YES our Life’s completely circulated around him from morning to evening of which we got to know only when he passed away, Physical presence matters so much ! Thus it was a SHOCK to us ,also it happened so suddenly.

Even if we get another Dog it would never be like LORD , U see 4 different Black LAB Dog’s , they would all look different in terms of expressions, looks, eyes just everything ,so we wonder if any or another dog could ever take place of LORD.

He had his ways of melting U away even if U were not in a mood to pamper him, he would draw Ur attention somehow very lovingly.

Sorry If I am sharing it with U All .

The More One Lives With Dogs, The More One Realizes there Heavenly Traits. They are Selfless & Faithful In Their Love to U No Matter How U Treat .Hence there is little scope for Malice If There is no Ego In Us & If we are more Forgiving & Giving like the Pet.

Although we Edge over Animals in Intellect, yet we have So much to learn from a DOG to love everyone eternally with no demands.
